Voronezh Region is situated in the Central Russian Upland, and its Eastern part on the Oka-Don Plain, in the upper reaches of the Don River Basin and its tributaries. The region’s natural landscape is marked by extensive woodlands, many of which have the status of reserves. Voronezh and Khoper State Natural Reserves lie within the region’s territory.
Research schools of Voronezh higher education institutions are well known abroad.
Advantageous geographical position, well-developed infrastructure and the huge production potential of the region’s enterprises provide the region with ample opportunities for fruitful cooperation with business partners both in Russia and abroad.
On the overall Russian scale, Voronezh Region accounts for the production of 19% of chemical rubber, 9.2% of nuclear power, 8.3% of ceramic tiles, 7.8% of synthetic ammonia, 5.9% of automobile tires, 5% of low-power electric motors, 4.4% of mineral fertilizers, 10.5% of vegetable oil, and 8.7% of granulated sugar.
Voronezh Region’s advantageous geographical position increases its importance as a major transportation and logistics hub in South-Central Russia, with traffic lines to Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Kiev, and Novosibirsk.
The railway junction of the Southeastern Railway, which has its administrative headquarters in Voronezh, connects 11 regions of Central Russia.
